Founder's Note

Open-Source Radio Group was created out of a simple belief: radio works best when it is clear, intentional, and built for the long term.

For much of the industry’s history, strong formats were not accidental. They were the result of structure, consistency, and a deep understanding of how listeners actually use radio in their daily lives. Over time, many stations have been pushed toward complexity for its own sake—chasing trends, overcorrecting based on limited data, or rebuilding formats too often to ever let them settle.

OSRG exists to do the opposite.

This service is built around helping stations establish a sound that makes sense for their market, their audience, and their operational reality—and then maintain that sound with discipline and confidence. Whether that means a simple, stable structure or a fully custom rebuild, the goal is always sustainability, not short-term fixes.

Open-Source Radio Group is run entirely by me, Justin Walters. I work directly with every station because I believe consistency of vision matters. There are no handoffs, no junior consultants, and no competing interpretations of strategy. What I design is what I stand behind.

OSRG is intentionally not a large firm. It is focused, hands-on, and selective, by design. That allows me to give each station the level of attention required to build formats that last—not just formats that launch.

If you’re looking for clarity instead of chaos, structure instead of guesswork, and a format philosophy that respects both listeners and operators, OSRG may be a strong fit.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more.
